Children’s Hospital & Women’s Services/
Surgery Center Additions

DAY CPM provided Owner’s Representation and Project Management services for the expansion of the Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, Washington. DAY set up protocols and processes for MEP coordination and commissioning, served as a liaison to hospital staff and departments, and managed the architects and engineers. DAY also provided detailed construction scheduling, planning, phasing, and provided oversight of commissioning and warranty management.

This phased project included a new seven-story surgical operating room facility equipped with state-of-the-art robotic equipment and support services; a new women’s services addition equipped with outpatient clinics, Labor Delivery & Recovery, C-section and postpartum facilities; a two-story patient care oncology and treatment facility on top of the nine-story children’s building; and a remodel of the entry level.

The design goal was to make every aspect of the facility — from the layout of a surgical suite to the colors and fabrics in a birthing room — contribute to feelings of well being. Throughout the building, natural materials, soothing colors, curved walls, and extensive use of glass create a light and welcoming environment.
